| | Abstract | The question on most Americans’ minds in today’s financial crisis is “How |
| | can I save money?” One simple answer to that question lies in the cost of |
| | buying and maintaining automobiles. Cars are something that everyone |
| | needs in order to get from one place to another. Most people buy a car that |
| | gets good mileage, but what they may not realize, is that there may be a |
| | car better suited for them then what they chose. For instance, a car a |
| | person plans to own for 5 years, but costs thirty thousand dollars to |
| | purchase may get only slightly better gas mileage than a car that costs |
| | only ten thousand dollars to buy. The factor of how far a person drives |
| | per day also comes in to play. Therefore the real question is, “Does the |
| | average American pay too much for the car they currently drive?” The |
| | answer to that is that most of them do, even in a person owns a fuel |
| | saving car, unless it is the Smart For Two, the car will cost more for the |
| | consumer. |
